Rain Hill

Green and serene sanctuary in the middle of concrete jungle.

Creating something new and unique on the highly-competitive Sukhumvit road is a challenge.  Contour started with understanding the potential consumers, which are mainly middle and upper class Thais and foreigners, especially Japanese families. The research shows that the area was lacking a place people could just go and relax.  Design research showed Sukhumvit’s buildings are trendy and eye-catching, but most of them are lacking green natural image.  Contour decided the concept should be a green and serene sanctuary in the middle of concrete jungle.

The Rain Hill concept uses vertical green architecture, tropical plants and 30-metre high rainfall walls to create a new perception of aesthetic and urban open space to welcome friends, family, children or even dogs. Contour designed Rain Hill to be a sustainable, urban ecosystem by using techniques to minimise energy consumption, employing a new water-based air conditioning system and adding a green facade to become natural noise absorber.

Rain Hill won Thailand Property Award for Best Commercial Architectural Design 2012, and was also Highly Recommended for the Best Commercial Development Award.
